BIC have released a new set of codes (BIC Version 2) for categorising titles. BIC2 constitutes the result of a full and thorough review of the BIC scheme, carried out in accordance with clearly defined aims and principles, which has produced some significant changes and advances.
€™s their online search service that I wish to explain here.
For an international bank transfer, you need a SWIFT Code (BIC Code) and the IBAN Code. The 8-digit BIC Code uniquely identifies the head office of the bank. The SWIFT code for its primary office is DEUTDEFF:
DEUT identifies Deutsche Bank
DE is the country code for Germany
FF is the code for Frankfurt
Deutsche Bank uses an extended code of 11 digits and has assigned branches or processing areas individual extended codes. The overlapping issue between ISO 9362 and ISO 13616 is discussed in the article International Bank Account Number (also called IBAN).
The long term aim is the unification of these two schemes into a single classification system for the English Language book market.
